Information You Submit
Search Terms
A name, place, or other term entered in a search tool is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. Benzie County Busted Mugshots does not store or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages
If you email or send a contact message, we retain the information needed to read and answer it. We do not share that correspondence outside the organization unless disclosure is legally required.
Technical Data and Cookies
Standard technical details may be collected when a page loads, including:
- Internet Protocol address
- Browser name and version
- Device type and operating system
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- The referring website, when available
- Date and time stamps
Cookie Controls
Cookies help measure how visitors use the site. A browser can reject or delete cookies, although blocking them may change how some functions behave.
How Information Is Used
Collected data may be used to:
- Operate the site and improve its speed
- Send a search request to the selected partner service
- Understand which pages visitors find useful
- Diagnose errors and other technical problems
- Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests
Outside Websites and Advertising
The site links to the Benzie County Sheriff, jail and court resources, Michigan corrections systems, federal locators, news outlets, and third-party search tools. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination’s privacy policy governs its collection and use of data.
Advertising partners may use their own technology to observe activity across websites and select ads. That tracking occurs on the partner’s systems, not as a record maintained by this site. Michigan public-record access under the Michigan Freedom of Information Act, MCL 15.231 et seq., is governed by the receiving public body’s process rather than this privacy notice.
When Data May Be Shared
We do not sell personal information. Data may be provided only as needed to:
- Search partners that process a submitted query
- Analytics providers that measure site use
- Advertising networks serving site content
- Law-enforcement or government authorities responding to a valid legal order
Security Practices
Reasonable safeguards are used to protect information under our control. No website, network, transmission, or storage method is fully secure, so we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Visitors Under Eighteen
This site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted information may use the Contact Us page to request deletion.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law and our ability to verify the requester, a person may ask to:
- Receive a copy of personal data held by the site
- Correct inaccurate submitted information
- Delete personal data held by the site
- Opt out of processing where that right applies

This privacy notice may be revised as practices or legal requirements change. A new version takes effect when it is posted here with an updated effective date.
